Chocolate Cake!

This is a bit of a mystery. We’re not really bakers, but we do seem to make rather fantastic chocolate cake. We made our first cake by accident… when I say by accident, what I mean is we offered to decorate a cake, fairly confident that we could come up with something appropriately camp and theatrical. But somehow the cake never arrived and, at the last moment, we ended up baking one ourselves. To our surprise, it was utterly gorgeous. Since then we seem to have made quite a few.

Generally, there’re four layers of cake with 3 layers of filling between them. The fillings are usually:

Lala lemon (home–made lemon curd with cream cheese and white chocolate – our favourite!) and either fresh whipped cream (but it needs to be eaten soon) or a ganache made out of white, milk or dark chocolate and cream (for a longer shelf–life).

The cake is then covered with more chocolate ganache and festooned with chocolate ornamentation of one sort or another.

This is all a bit new for us at the moment, but if the requests for cake keep coming in, we’ll be much clearer about what we can offer in the months to come.

Can I Order Cake NOW?

The short answer is ‘yes,’ so long as we can fit it in. Each cake takes quite a long time to produce, so prices start from about £200 and will depend on what you want in terms of size and complexity. If you’re after a cake that looks fantastic (in that slightly arty and not entirely conventional way), and tastes as good as it looks, get in touch with us.
